Our Story
Cavedog was started by David Cooper, a San Diego Native who settled in west Los Angeles after coming to the city for college. As he worked with dogs daily and tried dozens of different dog treat brands, he realized there was not a great option that checked all the boxes he was looking for. Many treats on the market are filled with synthetics, additives, and filler ingredients. He also found that a lot of treats are large and do not break easily, making it difficult for some owners to train small dogs without over feeding them. His degree in environmental science also made it impossible to overlook that the vast majority of dog treats are sold in single use plastics.
At the start of 2025 David purchased a commercial dehydrator, a Vitamix, and a scale with the goal of creating a better line of dog treats. Using organ meat because of its super nutritious and super savory characteristics, he found that dogs love these simple and tasty snacks.
